BLUE AND GREEN

by Amber Pritchard

Once upon a time
In a land far away
Was a small town named Mora
Beside a mountain it lay

Laura Ashley was the prettiest
Most popular girl in Mora
Long blonde curls down to her waist
And round green eyes had Laura

Molly Freed was a plain girl
Her looks not very unique
Her wardrobe was unsightly
Not to mention her skinny physique

Laura Ashley and Molly Freed
Were not the best of friends
Laura was too good for anyone
Who didn't own a Mercedes Benz

Laura would torment Molly
About her vulgar choice
Of clothes and shoes and hair
In her quiet solemn voice

Molly had always known
That she would find a way
To finally beat Laura Ashley
And ruin her perfect day

One bright sunny morning
Molly saw a sign
A spring dance was to be held
On the night of August nine

Molly would save her money
And buy a special outfit
Molly would be the best dressed there
And Laura she would outwit

Weeks went by for Molly
And she saved every cent she could
Her dress would be better than Laura's
As she always knew it should

The night of the dance finally came
And Molly was very edgy
She took out her new outfit
Which she'd bought from 'La Reggie'

Molly wore a long blue skirt
With a green silk blouse
When she walked into the gym
Laura's temper was aroused

For Laura was wearing
The very same get up
Everyone laughed at Molly
Would her bad luck ever let up

Laura pointed at Molly
And laughed with all the others
She said that Molly's outfit
Looked like her mother's

Molly looked at Laura
She had on a tan belt
It made her outfit seem nicer
And made her waist look very svelte

But just when Molly had given up
On trying to impress
Lady Sara, the good fairy appeared
Wearing a purple velvet dress

This fairy gave Molly
A leather belt of black
With a dainty gold latch
Which fastened in back

This belt was just the thing
That Molly's outfit missed
Molly now looked ravishing
Laura was really pissed

Laura's face turned red
As she ran out of the gym
For the first time in her life
Laura did not win

Now Laura wasn't the best dressed
Girl in this little town
For everyone loved Molly
In her new and expensive gown

Molly thanked her good fairy
For her helping hand
Lady Sara joined the party
And even sang with the band

The moral to this story
Is really quite clear
A very important message
That everyone should hear

Remember blue and green
Should never ever be seen
Unless there is another colour
In between.
