Each year students are asked to contribute stories to the Big Book. They may be fictional, or descriptive of some experience they have had. Because of the varied background of our students, the latter make fascinating and sometimes very moving accounts. We have had a number of such contributions from Somali students.
The stories are typed and published as a substantial collection. All contributors receive a copy, and the Big Book is used as a reading resource in English classes and given as a gift to visitors. Of more than two hundred entries each year, these are the ones deemed by the English teachers as deserving of special recognition.
We would like to acknowledge the generosity of the Fairfield plant of Australian Paper for their donation of the paper required to print the "Banksia Big Book".
