There was Detective Manson at his desk, just lying around doing nothing. It was a quiet part of the year, not many criminals around. The phone rang, the noise came as such a shock, the detective almost fell out of his seat. He quickly gathered himself together picked up the phone and said, "Los Angeles Police Headquarters."
On the other end of the phone a young woman whispered, "There has been a murder at my apartment, my husband has been killed." She began to cry, "I live in Wilson Lane Apartments, No. 31 and my name is Kathy Misaman."
Manson replied, "An officer is on the way." He hung up and ordered one of his men to go down to the apartment.
About 45 minutes later, his officer rang back and said, "I think you better come down chief, this one needs a full investigation."
When the detective got down to the scene of the crime, Mrs. Misaman was giving a description of the man and the car he drove away in. Later in the day, all patrol cars were given the description and were told to keep an eye out.
The next morning, when Manson was getting a cup of coffee at McDonalds, he noticed a Mercedes Benz at the drive-thru. It was the same one Mrs. Misaman had described and it had the same person, it was the criminal. He quickly ran to the car and told the man to get out, instead he slammed on the accelerator . He quickly jumped in his car and screeched down the street after the criminal. Over his radio, Manson gave orders for a patrol to start the chase.
As he sped down the road after the man to be captured, he found he was running out of gas, but still he continued the chase. The shooting came from the Mercedes Benz, the shot missing the windscreen by centimetres. Then I saw the old pedestrian hobbling across the road. I was sure that I was going to get her. He swerved, just missing her, but I knocked her handbag off her hand and it dragged behind me.
Then it happened, he hit a gumtree on the side of the road close to a supermarket. He tried to escape, but two uniformed officers caught him and handcuffed him to a pole. They later found three weapons in his car, a knife, 44 Magnum and a baton. He was angry and was struggling to get out, but he didn't succeed. To Manson's surprise, the criminal started to cry.
On the 23rd of September, he came before the jury in court. Three witnesses gave descriptions and files showed that he was not supposed to drive anyway. In the end, the judge gave him thirty years imprisonment.
He got charged for twenty-one offenses, eight being very serious. On his way down the staircase, the criminal was crowded with reporters ready to write down things with their pens. It was just another day for Detective Manson sitting at his desk, it was a quiet part of the year, then the phone rang...........
