
The Alfred Atherton Education Award is one of a number given by the Master Plumbers and Mechanical Services Association of Australia. The purpose of the awards is to give students and apprentices incentive and help to meet their education expenses in pursuing their careers.On Tuesday, 23rd July, 1996, Khaled Ayache was presented with his award at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre.

"Khaled Ayache, a Year 11 student at Banksia Secondary College has a thirst for knowledge, exampled not only by his outstanding scholastic record but also demonstrated by the number of awards he has won . These include the 1993 Peter Staples Junior Citizenship special recognition award for continued service to community and school, the 1994 Wally Begg Scholarship for academic excellence, the 1995 Year 10 Achievement Award and the Faculty Achievement Award - Computers. In addition to these achievements, Khaled helped to initiate the Banksia Secondary College home page on the Internet, and is a "news-hound" for The Heidelberger newspaper. He is very interested in pursuing a career in architecture."
