MULTICULTURAL AUSTRALIA

More than 200 years after European settlement, and with some 50 years of immigration, Australia is one of the world's most culturally diverse nations.

Since World War II, Australia has become the home of almost five million people from 130 countries. About 14 per cent of Australians older than five years speak a language other than English at home. Socially, Australia has been transformed into one of the most vibrant and dynamic societies in the world.

The range of restaurants, fashion, art and architecture are features that highlight Australia's cultural diversity and provide an additional dimension for the country's tourism industry.
