The scene below shows the entrance to the Olympic Village, home to athletes from all over the world for the XVI Olympiad in Melbourne, 1956.
The houses and facilities used by the Olympians became available for community use after the Games.
To the right now stands the Olympic Village Primary School, one of Banksia's main feeder schools, while the hall on the left is now part of a modern Community Centre.
Most importantly, the Olympic rings over the the entrance now grace the wall of the College stadium.
