Most clubs offer supporters the opportunity to sponsor players. One usual sponsor told the club he did not have a lot of money available for sponsorship. However, he would sponsor a young recruit, but only in his first game.
"I will give him one cent for his first possession in a senior game. If he gets two possessions I will give him a total of two cents, for three possessions a total of four cents, four possessions a total of eight cents - and so on."
To his surprise, club marketing manager Ivor Brane readily agreed to the sponsorship.
The recruit finally got a game in the last round of the season. He made an excellent debut, picking up 24 kicks and 8 handpasses. How much should the supporter have paid?
