For the past two years, Technology Studies staff have been quietly developing Computer Aided Learning programs (CAL) for students to use in Systems & Technology.
These programs have been developed in the popular AUTHOR format. The College has 12 programs available for students to use and assist them in their understanding of this popular subject area.
For those not familiar with CAL, a typical student program would consist of a series of slides, animations or videos designed by the teacher to broaden the students' knowledge of a topic. The students study this information, just like a book, and are then asked to respond to a series of questions. The computer marks and then records their response.
At the moment, these programs are being used by students in Years 10, 11 and 12, and plans are being made by the College to make this type of learning experience available in other subject areas.
Any teachers interested in sharing information and ideas on this topic please contact Brian Bracegirdle at Banksia Secondary College.
